With this image, hundreds of mothers show how absurd some comments are to nursing mothers

Despite all the efforts made to normalize breastfeeding in public and try to end all these myths about prolonged breastfeeding, it is still common to hear phrases like "that boy is too old to drink a tit"Let's admit it, most of them are absurd and unnecessary phrases.

If you don't believe me, for sample we have the image of a rhino mother breastfeeding her baby, which was filled with comments, in a humorous way, that teach us how absurd some of the phrases that nursing mothers receive, especially those who practice prolonged breastfeeding.

It all started when the Cincinnati Botanical Garden and Zoo shared on their Facebook page a photograph of Seyia, a rhinoceros mother, in which she appears breastfeeding her baby Kendi, which as we can see in the photograph, is already quite old.

The image received comments with different approaches, on the one hand, they commented on tender things like: "He's already a big baby, but he still needs mom's love and nutrition"while there were others who they decided to take it on the humorous side and make reference to the comments that some nursing mothers receive, like: "Shouldn't it be covered while feeding?"

But the real wave of comments, full of humor and also some with a touch of sarcasm, happened when "The Milk Meg", a mother blogger and lactation consultant, shared the image on her Facebook page, as a way to show that breastfeeding and love for our children is something that all mothers have in common.

"Kendi still nurses from time to time when Seyia allows it."

Oh yes, isn't it something we all do?

Of course, being a site followed by thousands of mothers, the comments were swift and took the opportunity to show how ridiculous some phrases that breastfeeding mothers receive. These are some of the funniest we find:

He obviously does it to seduce the husbands of the other rhinos

All decent rhinos use a zebra blanket to cover themselves. Where do you think we are, Savannah? Heavens! The administration should send it to another zoo immediately!

There is no nutritional value in rhino milk after six months. Didn't you get the notice? She only does it herself

That rhino is old enough to use a glass.

You will continue breastfeeding that rhinoceros until college.

Wow The tits of a rhinoceros should only be seen on the beaches or underwear advertising. Have a little dignity! I mean, I support breastfeeding, but ...

Does she really need to post this on Facebook? I fully support breastfeeding but do it privately. You do not need to be in social networks. It's just getting attention.

While the comments have made us laugh because they sound absurd, the truth is that phrases like these are the ones that thousands of mothers have to face every day. We are questioned about breastfeeding in public by those who mistakenly view it as obscene or sexual, as well as criticizing the decision to continue breastfeeding when children are already walking (remember that WHO recommends it for at least two years).

The best we can do for a nursing mother (and also for those who give the bottle) is simply to support them, respect their decisions, avoid such absurd comments about breastfeeding and don't judge themWell, they all deserve the same respect.
