Today, World Children's Day

According to the RAE, "childhood is the period of the life of a person that goes from birth to puberty." They are a few years, approximately between 12 and 15 years that mark the whole life of the human being.

In the whole world the International Children's Rights Day For such a day as today, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was signed 19 years ago, the most widely supported treaty by all countries in the world, except for Somalia and the United States that did not ratify the 1989 Convention.

Four fundamental principles that are contemplated are non-discrimination, dedication to the best interests of the child, the right to life, survival and development, and respect for the views of the child.

I want to rescue some of the rights established by the convention and call for reflection on whether as parents we respect them. When they talk to us about children's rights, we remember the tremendous situation in some countries where children's rights are wildly stained. Lack of drinking water, child labor, abuse, millions of deaths that could be avoided ... it is shocking. Many organizations work to avoid it, and although almost all countries have pledged to defend them, they are still being breached.

But this year I invite you to look in our surroundings. To assess the situation inside and with our own children. Because I believe that respect for the rights of the child begins at home. Do we really respect your right to be heard, your freedom of expression? Do we respect your right to play? Your right to develop your full potential? And his physical integrity? With regard to this today a video will be disseminated that we will post on the blog throughout the day against the cheek, the scourge, the scream and other forms of violence.

As I said at the beginning, childhood experiences mark the entire future life of a human being. That is why respecting their rights is essential to raise happy people.
