During the year that ends, these were our best readings for children

When there are few days left until the end of the year, we wanted to remember all the readings in paper books (and also in digital format) that have passed through our hands during the last 12 months.

In Peques and Más, we love reading to our children, and encouraging reading from an early age. Because beyond the academic benefits that we can attribute to it, We found a source of pleasure and family communication in the books.

If you want to know a little more about our best titles of 2012, and if you are curious about the advice we have given to help you to bring reading to your children, follow:

Good help to facilitate children's contact with books

Accompanying the reading habit of children only requires your persistence and the attitude you have towards books, but if you want more concreteness, it is possible to help your children if they want to be good readers, and (above all) keep in mind, that it is good for all of us to spend a few minutes each day reading them.

Not long ago we echoed a campaign that influenced the convenience of taking advantage of free time to read, although to achieve this parents have a decisive role. So we can start by believing that home is the right space and medium to develop language proficiency, and perhaps ... it is possible to create a 'reading corner in our homes'.

And now, let's start reading, but first we would like to introduce these Useful guides that collect varied proposals: '150 children's books to read and reread', 'Guide to bring knowledge to children', and 'Guide to read newspapers with children'. And although now something is far away, at least we realize that season will return when the sun warms like never before and we have much more free time, so we remind you of these readings for the summer.

What about the classics?

We have been moved to know the reality of the current 'Dickens children' through readings that present situations of childhood in an unprotected situation, and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Kipling is still up to date thanks to the prize that got 'Kipling illustrated' in the National Edition prize. And for classics, the Grimm, although knowing their stories, nobody would tell what kind of stories inspired them. Y who has not ceased to interest is Pippi Longstocking, along with the rest of Astrid Lindgren's works

We also have to tell you that we liked to discover the stories of Perrault in the Miguel de Cervantes virtual library, and know that the adventures of 'El Quijote' can also be found for the iPad. You know what? Snow White can become an interactive bilingual story.

If you have an open minded and you like innovations, you can try this version of 'Pulgarcito'.

Teachings for daily life and education in values

The secret of the blue egg (steamboat prize) tells us what the consequences of lies are, meanwhile The old man and the daisy help us to be aware of the small values. Petunia Petulante, and the hare of the full moon is aimed at those children who ask incessantly, and parents who do not know how to start saying 'no', a fun and spontaneous story where there are.

If you have children in Primary room (or smaller but those who are good at math) you may be interested in having The tricks of fractions, a very enjoyable way to learn numbers.

I don't want to forget about Piccolo and Nuvola, hope from the hand of a small seagull, hope of achieving a more sustainable environment, in which your friend the cloud is always pure and clean.

Relationships must be taken care of

Nuk's story serves for younger children to learn to know themselves, and the old man and the daisy, to pay a little more attention to everything around us. Capitan tells it all is a touching story starring a dog, his family, and the cat that the latter end up adopting.

We've also met Fireflies in paradise, the story of Adam and Eve told from another perspective, the characters remain united despite the complications.

And a topic that sometimes should pay attention: Alzheimer's was present in this post with allusive children's readings.

The mystery and the adventures always present

Yesterday and today at the age of eight many children like immerse yourself in thrilling stories, and unresolved intrigues. We have read Fatal Ancas, starring Batracio Frogger, and the new adventures of the Ninja Meerkats.

On the other hand, our children are learning to be good detectives, and they may well want to imitate that of Inspector Cito.

And if you want an authentic adventure starring a brave and determined baby, try Super Charlie. We do not forget one of the greatest successes of this year: The Puppies, to the success in film, followed the books that are being read by thousands of children.

Read in digital format

A topical book by format and theme is Frankenweenie, an electrifying book for iPad; and if you want more options for this device, you can try these customizable stories.

We just want to repeat a note (perhaps manido), and knowing that nowadays books are not only read on paper, the treatment of this reading should be the same: choice of content, read with children, learn lessons... and additional advice (not so present with the 'other books'): set limits on the use of technological devices.

Surely now you have much more desire to add in the letter to the Magi of your children a good book, and to discover the fantastic stories that hide in its pages. If you still have doubts about reading aimed at children, you can search our pages, or also use Boolino, a social network to encourage reading in children. Happy Holidays! And (even more) happy readings!
