Proposals to change Education: painting is not coloring

I continue with my proposals to change Education and today we are going to talk about artistic expression and its value. To achieve really creative children and make drawing a normal and art-free way you have to let them paint, and painting is not coloring.

Although coloring pictures made by someone else and presented for it is sometimes fun and for some children, insisting that this is necessary or mandatory deprives them of discovery, experimentation and greatly limits their creativity.

The very fact of presenting already drawn objects prevents them from developing their own imagination and of course, if it is an obligatory act, with prescribed colors and in which the work done is qualified according to that previous guidelines or does not leave the line is a capital error.

Of course they can use drawings to color, and we can offer them, on occasion, thematic proposals for them to develop: "Do you paint a house, a tree, a whale, a dinosaur?" but as specific and fundamental facts, volunteers.

Rather, we should encourage them and allow them to paint according to their internal need, experiment with colors and textures, choose representative or abstract themes, value the creative act and not the result and of course, never, never, never, tell them that something is wrong.

We should put at your disposal diverse materials and varied surfaces in which to choose, freely, paint what they want, not to qualify them and worry little if they get stained. All this will allow them to develop their own pleasant artistic expression, discover without fear of judgments and, in addition, develop a much more natural control of their fine psychomotor skills than by making tabs and drawings with external guidelines.

Let the children paint, not just color. This is my proposal today to change Education and make it more human, free and creative. Dare to let the child paint.
