Carolina Bescansa, deputy of Podemos, attends the Congress with her baby

A few minutes ago the XI Legislature started in the Congress of Deputies. The representatives arrived this morning to occupy their seats, one of them, the deputy of Podemos, Carolina Bescansa, attended with her baby of a few months who is still breastfeeding.

What a privilege to be able to go to work with your baby in your arms, right? The image of a new motherhood that prioritizes the needs of the baby before any formalism and symbol that a real change in conciliation policies is necessary. An example.

It is not the first time we see a baby in a hemicycle. Immediately the image of the European parliamentarian Licia Ronzulli comes to mind, who went to Parliament for the first time to a vote when her daughter was only a month and a half old and we have seen her growing up.

It is not strange to see Carolina Bescansa in her work accompanied by her baby, her second child born in summer. It has also led him to interviews, as well as when he presented his credential as a deputy and in the meetings he has held with the different parliamentary groups.

Today he occupies his seat with his baby in his arms (in the photo above we see him in the arms of Pablo Iglesias) and of course it is a good promotion for the conciliation policies that your party wants to launch, taking into account that Congress has a nursery It operates since 2006 from eight in the morning to nine at night and costs 150 euros a month to officials and workers of the lower house. Should he have left his baby in daycare?

But beyond the party it represents, I like to see a mother who reconciles her work with her motherhood. Because it is possible to reconcile both facets, and hopefully inspire the deputies, since they are sitting there, to take measures that facilitate a true reconciliation. Flexibility of schedules, nurseries at work sites, being able to go to the job with the baby ... And most importantly, extend maternity leave to 6 months.

For a baby there is no better place than the arms of his mother, even if she is a deputy. What do you think about going to work with the children?
