His dog rescued him and now he has sold his toys to help him: the beautiful story of Connor and Copper

In Babies and more We love reading stories about the beautiful friendship that forms between children and their pets. From the benefits that pets have in children's health, to the cases of dogs that accompany lost children, The relationship between a pet and a child is one of the prettiest and purest.

An example of this is the case of Connor and his dog Copper, who accompanies him during his illness. But now, Copper is sick and that's why Connor has decided to sell all his toys to help pay for his four-legged friend's treatment.

The story of Connor and his dog Copper

Connor Jayne is a 10-year-old boy who suffers from a medical condition that causes reactions similar to seizures or seizures when he goes through moments of high stress, in addition to suffering from post-traumatic stress and anxiety.

Copper, a doberman that the family adopted when he was just a puppy, has been able to identify Connor's sufferings and since then He has become not only his pet, but his support in difficult times, like a therapy dog that accompanies him when Connos suffers those seizures.

According to an interview with Connor's mother, Jennifer Jayne, and published in Babble, Copper has helped Connor when there have been anxiety crises, approaching him and pressing his body, managing to calm him even better than the medications Connor was taking.

On one occasion, during the night Copper detected something and began barking nonstop, near the door of Connor's room, thus alerting the family that something was happening. Moments later, they would confirm that Connor was having seizures.

That night, Copper managed to rescue Connor from suffering an attack without anyone noticing, and of course, it became even more special for the whole family.

But then, Copper got sick and it was Connor's turn to help him

Some time after that incident, the family noticed that Copper presented a limp, so they took him to the vet, but it seemed nothing serious and he just needed rest. But later, their condition worsened and that was when the family discovered that the Doberman dogs, the Copper breed, had a tendency to certain health problems.

In Babies and more We talked with Connor's family to share his story, and they told us that Copper had an accumulation of calcium in the discs and a thinning in the spine, between the cervical C4 and C6. Because of this condition, Copper needs medications and therapies, including acupuncture and laser therapy.

Knowing that the treatments are expensive and that your family could not afford them, Connor decided to help his friend and companion, selling all his toys to be able to support the necessary expenses to treat Copper. Her mother then proposed that she could also sell some of her things and set up a garage sale together.

Through the Facebook page Copper's Road to Recovery (reproduced with permission) (The Road to the Recovery of Copper), the family shares the therapies and treatment that their faithful pet and friend is receiving, which he has managed to take thanks to Connor's support and the money he raised by selling all his toys.

The mother says that this is a very natural act in Connor, because he has always been a child who likes to help others. An example of this is that Connor, on his last two birthdays, has asked that instead of bringing gifts to their parties, the guests support donating to organizations.

The family hopes that in the next few days they will perform an MRI to Copper, to find out if he suffers or not Wobbler syndrome, which affects the cervical spine of large dogs, but of which Copper does not have the typical neurological symptoms.

This is a beautiful story that shows us that dogs are not only pets, but that they become part of the family and even some of them are true heroes, like Copper. We admire Connor's noble and loving gesture to help his canine friend, and we hope you can improve your condition soon.
