A study reveals that illustrated books provide an early development in reading

A study reveals that illustrated books are ideal for children to have an early development in reading and better understand the functioning of the world that surrounds them. The study took as a reference children whose parents spent about 40 minutes a day reading to the children all kinds of children's books that had various illustrations.

The various aspects related to learning were analyzed based on the readings that we have mentioned before, an attempt was made to find a relationship between the interaction with the illustrations and their real-world application. For this, three groups of children were organized, one with the 18-month-old children, another with the 24-month-old children and finally one with children who were 30 months old. The three groups were provided with illustrated books that represented how a rattle was mounted, some books contained photographs of this action and other colored drawings that also explained this action. After reading, the children were asked to ride a rattle, most of them performed this action.

The study shows that very young children can learn and perform actions based on children's reading. Illustrated books are really a useful tool for children's early learning and development and parents should provide them with this effective tool. Thanks to this study, published in the Developmental Psycology magazine, many parents will guide their children's learning through illustrated children's books.
