Nanny or nursery ?, the big dilemma

One of the great questions that parents ask ourselves when there is no other than to return to work is with whom we will leave our baby, who at that height at most counting maternity leave and vacations will have about five or six months.

It is preferable Leave it at home in charge of a babysitter or take it to a nursery?(Well, to a nursery school, so that nobody bothers).

I asked myself the question when I had to decide, although I had it easier because my girl was almost a year and a half. Personally, I prefer nursery school, for several reasons that I will explain below.

For starters, and most importantly, because it is preferable that you relate to other children your age before a babysitter, I honestly think so, if I am not going to be me or the grandparents who care, I prefer to be with other children . Although I do not doubt the affection that a caregiver can give, I am left with the early socialization of the baby and with the enormous amount of stimuli it receives in the school environment.

Of course, you have to make sure that the place where we leave our son is of absolute confidence and then pass the bad drink of adaptation. It is normal that at the beginning it is difficult for the child to stay in a place he does not know, but if he has a good time, he will be better there surrounded by his peers, playing, painting and singing, than at home.

We already know that at home he is surrounded by his things, his toys, he has exclusive attention, he takes a nap in his crib while at school things are different. There are other children to attend (but that will teach him to share early and foster his autonomy) or sleep on a mattress on the floor (that gave me a terrible shame, but one day I went to see them to take my anguish away and they sleep perfectly … and then).

One of the cons of kindergarten is that this contact with other children has its benefits but also causes infections of all kinds of diseases. The very little ones usually catch everything, every two by three, they fall, and the boogers are a constant. (I say it from experience)

Faced with this unforeseen event that the child is ill and has to stay at home, we must have a “plan B”, that is, someone who can come home to take care of him if the parents cannot miss work.

But of course, we must not rule out that the babysitter for whatever reason can not come to care for the baby, and there the same, we have to resort to "plan B".

On the other hand, there is a factor that influences (and quite) when making the decision that is the economic part, that everyone will know their situation. A person who takes care of the child at home means a good amount of money, probably more than a private school and surely much more than a public school.
