Active sleep and peaceful sleep

During the first months of the baby's life, the most important moments are feeding and sleep.

Sleep is divided into two perfectly defined phases, even after 30 weeks of pregnancy, these two phases, active sleep (REM) and calm sleep (not REM) can already be clearly determined.

When the baby begins to sleep, the first phase that begins is that of active sleep, in it we can see how the baby breathes irregularly, moves the eyes, makes small movements with his little arms or with his little legs or even grimaces with his mouth . This is the beginning of a normal dream and should not be interrupted, in fact, interrupting it means breaking a normal dream. That the baby do everything we have said before should not alarm any parent, it is normal. After the active sleep phase begins, and after about an hour, the baby goes into a deeper sleep called calm sleep (not REM). It is a very relaxed dream, absent of movements and groans, with a soft, accompanied and deep breath. This new phase of sleep lasts approximately 40 minutes.

These two types of dreams alternate throughout the time the baby is asleep. It is important to know all the aspects that surround the baby's life, to know why things help greatly to avoid wrong actions and to understand the pattern and functioning of the baby's dream.
