A 33-year-old woman gives birth to quadruplets in Biscay

Multiple births, and especially those with more than two children, are often news because they are unusual and because the life of parents changes radically from one day to another.

This is what has surely happened to a couple who had quadruplets three days ago at the Hospital de Cruces de Vizcaya (Basque Country).

The four babies have turned out to be two “couples”, since they are two boys and two girls, who weighed 2,000, 1,860, 1,300 and 930 grams. They are in the neonatal unit of the hospital and the most known about it is that the delivery was by caesarean section and that took place on January 13 at 10:45 a.m.

The most important doubt that remains, and that I have not been able to reveal by reading the news in various sources, is whether the conception was natural or through any fertility treatment.

In any case I can not (or want to) imagine what it can mean for some parents to go from not having any children to having four babies at once. If with one our lives and our schedules were out of control, four would end up in a mental health center or similar.

By the way, I don't know how they will go on an economic level, but I'm sure the baby check would have been very good for this family.

Upgrade: Thanks to a reader, luzdepolilla, we now know that it was the result of artificial insemination.
