Workshops for children this Christmas at the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia

Children in general are attracted to archeology, they love to put themselves in the shoes of researchers or simply learn curiosities about past eras. The Archaeological Museum of Catalonia offers a program of family activities this Christmas at its headquarters in Barcelona, with different themes to choose the one that kids like best.

  • "Family Prehistory" (this Friday, December 28 at 5:00 pm) proposes a tour with the children to learn how people lived and survived in Prehistory. They invite us to change the Nintendo for a flint and discover what that era was like.

Other workshops are recommended for children from six to twelve years old, although we also detail them in case there are older children at home:

  • Highlights the workshop dedicated to the exhibition "Toilet stories" (December 27, January 2 and 4), a tour of the beauty tricks of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and in which the little ones can comb their hair like Romans, smell fragrances like those that were put centuries ago or try cosmetics of the time.

  • Another of the workshops is held in the Roman hall of the museum, "Live the Roman" (December 27 and January 3), and will help children understand what a Roman city was like, public and private spaces, how they dressed at the time ...

  • With the title of "This Christmas, may the gods be with you" (December 28 and January 3) a bold gymnast is made to find the different gods that are in the Museum, and to know their most hidden secrets. A chest full of magical objects will accompany the little explorers.

  • Finally, the workshop "How our ancestors lived" (January 2) will be held to understand Prehistory traveling a million years ago. What better way to do it than by making cave paintings or practicing fire-lighting techniques.
