The 100 best schools according to El Mundo

The newspaper The world recently published a ranking with 100 best private and concerted schools in Spain as he has been doing every year for a few years (this is the 12th time they have carried out this classification).

This list is an incentive for schools, which try to increase positions in the ranking year after year and a reference for those parents who are looking for the best school for their children.

To carry out the list, 27 criteria are used that are divided into three categories: the teaching model, the educational offer and the material means. These criteria do not score all the same, since the most important, for example, are those that are part of the teaching model, with the least valued being those that make up the category of material means.

In the list of the 100 best schools we found centers of all the autonomous communities, being 70% arranged. Let's see the first 20:

  • School Lauaxeta, in the province of Vizcaya, with 96 points out of 100 possible.
  • School Montessori, in the province of Girona, with 96 points.
  • School Biscay, in the province of Vizcaya, with 95 points.
  • School St. Patrick, in the province of Madrid, with 95 points.
  • School Base, in the province of Madrid, with 94 points.
  • School Montserrat, in the province of Barcelona, with 93 points.
  • School Meres, in the province of Asturias, with 93 points.
  • School Jesus M. El Salvador, in the province of Zaragoza, with 92 points.
  • School European Lyceum, in the province of Madrid, with 92 points.
  • School Gaztelueta, in the province of Vizcaya, with 92 points.
  • School Agora, in the province of Barcelona, with 91 points.
  • School San Cernín, in the province of Navarra, with 91 points.
  • School Urkide, in the province of Álava, with 91 points.

  • School Montfort, in the province of Madrid, with 89 points.
  • School San Pablo Ceu, in the province of Madrid, with 89 points.

The rest of the schools until you reach 100 you can see them in the publication of The world, collected in Youkioske here.

The list of the 100 schools comes from a study of more than 1,000 private and concerted schools and aims to help raise doubts to 30% of children of school age (about two million children) whose parents choose this type of school.

Many of these schools are, as we have said, arranged and can be accessed through the points awarded according to the different schooling criteria. The rest, the private ones, are accessed simply by enrolling the child, but taking into account that there are usually long waiting lists to enter.

Regarding the evaluation criteria, observing the 27 used, we miss a bit greater value to the opinion of the parents and that of the students. Of the 100 points awarded in total, only three come from the users of these schools, which are those that score the so-called "Loyalty Index", which comes to assess the percentage of children who finish their school life in the same center , as well as the number of former parents who take their children to it.

In my personal case it is a list that does not affect me at all, because the schools in the province of Barcelona are relatively far away, having to use a car or coach yes or yes, the dining room service being obliged (four trips to the day is impossible). If I also take into account that the one that is closest to me is confessional, they are uniformed with ties and shoes and it is also masculine, the doubt fades quickly (as always, it is a matter of tastes and beliefs).
