Harassment Prevention Center on Facebook: a set of tools to prevent and act

Facebook offers resources and tools to deal with cyber bullying through its Bullying Prevention Center, which has been presented in Spain, and this is good news.

Children, parents and teachers have online help that includes descriptions and exposition of responsibilities in this area, to the steps to act in the event that it should be done.

Among the project partners is Save the Children, and those responsible say that the best way to combat bullying is to provide children the tools necessary to face this kind of situation to your wood. 'Effective and lasting results can only be achieved if a joint effort is made between young people, parents, schools, institutions and companies'. In the section dedicated to adolescents, it is recalled that 'when someone they harass receives help, it is shown most of the time the attacks cease'.

As I said, parents also find support in this online Center, since they speak clearly, and help in decision making. And teachers are told about responsibilities, that children must have mechanisms to report incidents at the center itself.

Act against cyberbullying

It is a very well done job, designed so that the actions against cyberbullying are effective, but in addition it is not left loose, because it addresses the possible doubts of both the victims, and of boys worried about their friends, and even those minors who are accused as 'stalkers'.

The tools are clearly exposed, and depending on the specific situation (even the most serious ones) it is routed in one or another solution, being able to exercise the action from the website itself.

Protégeles, is also among the entities that support the initiative, its project director (Ana Oliaga) insists on the need for all parts of the educational community to be involved in prevention, early detection and harassment intervention (also online).

Remember that a secure Internet is an attainable goal if we all propose, from the responsibilities as people who interact in that great virtual community.

Facebook has obtained the collaboration of organizations such as the European network Insafe or Childnet International, to seek as one more objective, that the conversations of action against harassment continue in the 'real world'.
