"Can i sit?" campaign to leave the seat to pregnant women in public transport in Milan

It seems incredible that society is not yet sensitized with this act of basic respect for pregnant women. Well it is not, or at least not at all in some places like Milan, where it has been launched on public transport in the city a campaign for passengers to leave their seats to pregnant women.

Badges are being distributed with the message "Can i sit?" so that the mothers put them in a very visible place and so the other passengers are taken for granted.

As of yesterday, in some information points of the Milanese public transport located in the center of the city such as Duomo, Cadorna, Loreto and Garibaldi, a thousand plates are distributed with this message to raise awareness among citizens.

Although from the town hall they clarify that a large part of the inhabitants of Milan have developed a “great sense of civility”, the plates “can serve to attract attention when the pregnancy is not yet evident”.

Below we see the Italian journalist Francesca Barra, the first to put the sheet, and from whom the original idea of the campaign emerged. A few days ago, the message was posted on his Facebook page: "I have decided. I will design a sheet with the message: I am pregnant. Get up incivile!"

That of badges is not a bad idea. Pregnant women are not sick, but a seat is appreciated when carrying extra weight. Unfortunately, there is a lot of disrespect for pregnant women and the elderly, and many times it gives court to ask for the seat, so a little sign for people to take it for granted is a fairly practical and efficient solution, don't you think?
