International Sushi Day: any excuse is good for children to eat more fish

It is not a food that they normally accept with joy, children and fish do not usually have a friendly relationship precisely. Yes, you will tell me that there are exceptions and I will tell you that you are very right but they are that, exceptions, the generality is that they usually pay attention to eating fish.

Why and like any excuse is good to make them taste food different but beneficial for your nutrition, let's take advantage of today is the international sushi day and let's put it on the table.

Have your children already tried it?

No, it is not an official date as on other occasions implanted by any international organization but by force of repeating it, in the end it has become a custom to claim this as the International Sushi Day every June 18.

They say it started around 2009 and since then more and more people around the world have been joining this simple celebration: eating sushi.

What is sushi

It's about a japanese dish based on cooked rice marinated or macerated with rice vinegar, sugar, salt, fish, vegetables or seafood. It is one of the most recognized of Japanese cuisine and the most popular internationally.

We got in touch with Go Sushing! They know a lot about this and they answered us very kindly that:

“Japanese cuisine is known for its health benefits, being one of the most valued worldwide. Almost all of its ingredients, such as fish, rice, seaweed, vegetables and vegetables, stand out for their high nutritional properties and low caloric content, which together with their raw or cooked preparation, make sushi a perfect food for a healthy and healthy diet. varied. Appetizing? I would lie to you if I don't tell you that personally everyone seems appetizing ... but that is up to the person. Some are more of traditional sushi while others prefer dishes that fuse Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine. It is a matter of taste!"

It is normally associated with vegetables, with fish, with seafood and with seaweed but it can also carry vegetables and even egg in its preparation. What is not recommended is the use of raw freshwater fish, because it can contain salmonella. It is increasingly common that the fish used has been previously frozen as an anisaki prevention method.

A family meal

The sushi is prepared in small portions, about a bite, it can be served rolled in a sheet of nori seaweed or in a kind of rice meatball covered by a piece of fish.

Each way of presenting it has a different name and that can also be a game when it comes to eating sushi with the little ones in the house.

There are more and more children who dare to try sushi because there are more and more moms who encourage them to take it. The dishes that mothers and children usually prefer are salmon and cheese or tuna makis that are ideal both for size and taste. Also, in our menu we have perfect dishes for the taste of the little ones, such as different types of noodles and rice, yakitoris or skewers or chicken or cheese balls, something they usually love. I have a three year old girl and she is delighted every time I bring her sushi for dinner!

Sushi represents an ideal option to share with family and friends, since almost all dishes are divided into pieces, allowing you to try different specialties in the same meal, making this a much more fun time. So much to take at home or in the restaurant as to take out, Japanese food is a choice with which you never fail!

It is also true that there are more and more workshops in which children and adults are taught to prepare it at home, it is not complicated with the right tools and once the essential techniques are known. As an activity to do together it is most desirable as well.

What did you have prepared to eat today, and for tomorrow, some sushi?
