After 17 years trying to conceive, a couple becomes parents of sextuplets

For many couples, their greatest hope is to have children. However, there are times when this is not possible and upon receiving the news that they cannot have children, their world is falling apart. Some choose to resort to adoption, while others try to conceive through assisted reproduction.

There are those who lose hope after a few years, and there are others who continue in the search for a child as long as possible. This is the case of a couple, that after 17 years of trying to become parents, he welcomes not only one son, but six.

Adeboye and Ajibola Taiwo are a couple of Nigerian origin who for almost 20 years he wanted to have children. After this long time trying to become a father, this past November they received great news: Ajibola was pregnant.

His emotion soon increased, when he discovered on the first ultrasound that it was not one, but four beats that were in his belly. Two months later they got an even bigger surprise: They would have sextuplets!

This is how on May 11, at 30 weeks and 2 days of pregnancy, they became parents of six babies, three boys and three girls, attended by a team of 40 people from the Richmond Children's Hospital of the Commonwealth University of Virginia.

The babies were born weighing between 900 grams and 1.3 kilos, and all are stable and healthy in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

Receive the sextuplets it required teamwork together and a lot of planning and practice. Within the medical team were specialists in childbirth, breastfeeding, anesthesiologists, respiratory services, neonatal medicine, social security, nutrition, cardiology, among others.

Adeboye, the father of the babies, said in the bulletin issued by the hospital that the work of the medical team exceeded their expectations from the moment they arrived at the medical center.

The mother was discharged seven days later and both continue to be very active in supporting their children while continuing to develop in the hospital. At the moment the hospital and parents have decided not to give interviews or statements in addition to the bulletin published as want to focus on caring for babies.
