Mila Kunis and Ashtor Kutcher decided not to give gifts to their children at Christmas

The arrival of gifts is one of the most magical traditions at Christmas, however there are those who feel overwhelmed by Christmas consumerism and prefer to focus on family celebration. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are parents of two children (Wyatt, three years old, and Dimitri, 10 months) and they decided that next Christmas they will not give gifts to their children.

The couple of actors explained in an interview on Entertainment Tonight that they will begin a new tradition in their family. They want their children to grow up being more aware about this time of year.

"Last year, when we celebrated Christmas, Wyatt was 2 years old and it was too much. We didn't give him anything, it was the grandparents. The children no longer appreciate the gifts. They don't even know what they expect; they just expect things."

Kunis and Kutcher have told their parents "if you want to give them something, choose a gift. Otherwise, we would like to make a charitable donation to a children's hospital or some similar entity. That is our new tradition."

Too many gifts are not good

In many families it is inevitable that children receive a gift avalanche, a spiral that far from being good for them, having too many gifts does not benefit children.

Excess gifts overstimulate children, reduce your frustration tolerance level (They think they get everything they ask for) and can turn them into continuously dissatisfied children.

If you don't like your children to receive too many toys for Christmas and prefer something more useful and modest, the rule of the four gifts is a good way to put some good sense to children's Christmas gifts. There are also many other gifts that are not toys that you can give a child and make him very happy. Because in the end, beyond material things, the best gift you can give your children is you.
