Technology entrepreneurs: technology project contest for children between 12 and 16 years old

It is undeniable that technology is part of the lives of our children, and not only in the use they make of it, but as creators of technological projects that could change our lives in the future. Educational centers do not remain oblivious to this change, and increasingly include subjects such as technology, programming and robotics.

With the intention of supporting the technological potential of children in the first cycle of secondary school, next November 24 will take place, within the framework of Xataka Live Citizen, the Living Code Contest carried out in collaboration with Fundación Créate, where they will participate children between 12 and 16 years with technological entrepreneurship projects created by themselves.

It is a competition in which five schools in Madrid will participate (Nazareth Porto School, Aravaca International School, San Diego and San Vicente School, Trinity College Liceo Serrano and IES Miguel Delibes) with five technological projects in which children have been previously worked in the classrooms

The activity draws on the program From the Code to the Project of Fundación Créate, a new way of teaching the subject of Technology, programming and robotics planned in the first Secondary cycle with which children apply the knowledge acquired in a real project.

The event in which the winning project will be chosen will take place on November 24, at 12:30 p.m. in the Crystal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace in the Madrid City Council. If you are interested in attending, it will be free and open to the public until full capacity is reached.

That day the participants will have the help of a mentor who will prepare them for the competition, and the students should present and defend your projects for five minutes, explaining its usefulness, why and how they have carried it out.

The winner will be chosen by a jury formed by members of Xataka Live Citizen and BQ among others. To do so, they will take into account criteria such as the technologies used, the innovation of the project, the benefits it provides and communication with users.

The winning project will receive a BQ Zowi Robot as a prize. In addition, the colleges of the competition will also participate in a Marathon with BQ, in order to build a 3D printer for their school.

We think it's a great initiative to promote in children the passion for technology and creative thinking.
