A fissure in the amniotic sac

The amount of fluid that exists in the amniotic bag is very important from the first weeks of pregnancy. Sometimes there is a slight loss of this fluid due to an infection, amniocentesis and sometimes the causes of this loss are unknown.

The symptoms are usually a kind of feeling of being wet or urinating. In the most severe cases of fluid loss there is also a foul flow or fever, although this is not associated with a fissure of the amniotic bag. As a general rule, the amount of liquid is verified by ultrasound.

Whenever you have any doubts you should go to the gynecologist to verify that there is no problem. In the event that there is, it will surely be necessary to enter the hospital for better monitoring of the problem and thus rule out a possible infection and ensure that the baby is in optimal conditions. With adequate rest, the lost fluid is usually recovered, of course, provided that this loss is slight. To safeguard the child's well-being, you always have to go to the doctor when in doubt and do not downplay, since the good term of pregnancy depends on it.
