Being a vegetarian you have less chance of conceiving twins

According to a study published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, women who practice The vegetarian diet has a 20% lower chance of conceiving twins. The study has been prepared by Gary Steinman, an obstetrician specializing in multiple pregnancies at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, and sheds some light on this issue.

According to this specialist, hormones administered to cattle to increase milk and meat production have a lot to do with the conception of twins. The specialist also recommends that it is much better to conceive a child alone instead of twins, and argues that multiple gestations are more likely to generate some kind of complication such as premature birth, a congenital defect, etc. The study compared the diets that mothers who expected to have a child, regular diets, vegetarians, radical vegetarians, etc. were followed. The data from the latter reflected up to 20% less chance of having twins in relation to vegetarians who did include milk in the diet.

The explanation for this is the following, according to the specialist, our body produces a compound called FCI (insulin-like growth factor) in response to growth hormone, FCI is found in milk and stimulates ovarian sensitivity and especially the hormone that stimulates the follicles, hence the increase in ovulation. In addition it is also suggested that the FCI would help embryos survive when they are in an initial state of development.

It is also clear from this study that strict vegetarian women have a lower FCI level than women who present in their dairy diet, up to 13%.

We are of the opinion that a strict vegetarian diet is not beneficial for the body, there are hormonal disorders caused by a vegetarian diet, in addition to this type of diets, ingredients that are exclusive to other products and that are very beneficial are not provided.

The best, we always say, is a Mediterranean diet for the well-being and proper development of the child and in our opinion, if twins come, welcome.
