Being celiac or belonging to a large family loses points in the school election

A new decree of admission of students to apply by the socialist LOE leaves us stunned, they modify the points for the choice of the school harming children who precisely need it most. In Catalonia, being celiac, suffering from a chronic disease of the digestive system, endocrine or metabolic, or belonging to a large family loses points in the choice of school, according to the current government these points are expendable for these families.

The 15 points enjoyed by this group, will be withdrawn for the next course, instead awards up to 40 points to parents or guardians who work in the school in which they want to enroll their children.

The remaining points will continue to be awarded with 20 points for having brothers or sisters in the same center, the proximity of the home and the proximity of the work center of the parents, 10 points according to the per capita income and another ten points if the student, parents or siblings have a disability equal to or greater than 33%. Recall that celiac children (suffer from gluten intolerance) and those who suffer from the diseases mentioned at the beginning, are dependent on a special diet, their health and life goes into it and so did a father know in a letter he sent to the newspaper La Vanguardia, although we do not know if it will help, if it is possible that making the problem known, more people realize the injustice they are doing.

Not all schools have special menus for coeliacs or children with other disorders, nor can they go to restaurants, for the quality and hygiene of food and for what it costs, nor in all schools do they allow tupper with food, in addition From what it can be for the little one to see how other children eat everything and the same, so going to a school close to home becomes something basic so that children can eat what they need.

There are many affected families and those who have started a campaign to rethink the suspension of points

On the other hand, the families affected by the suppression of points have initiated a campaign for the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia to rethink their decision.

We hope it is feasible and that if we can join your request, let us know how.
