Would you give birth in your own home?

Above all, I respect and promote the possibility that each woman has the right to choose how she wants to bring her children to the world.

I definitely I wouldn't give birth in my own house.

Although it must be very pleasant to be in a family environment at that time, there are several reasons why I have gone to a hospital for my daughters to be born, and I would do it again even if I lived in Holland, where 30% of women choose to home delivery.

First, because I prefer the security of having immediate medical assistance in the same hospital without wasting time in transfers, both for myself and for the newborn in the unfortunate assumption that we needed them.

In critical situations, time is essential and I would not let my baby run any risk. I prefer to know that any complication can be resolved quickly and with the best means.

Second, because it would not give birth without epidural. Childbirth is a wonderful event that I have lived intensely despite, or thanks to, anesthesia and hospital.

I think it's great that a revolution in childbirth care is being generated, hospitals are increasingly turning to more humanized birth care.

That is, according to my preferences, the best way to give birth. Fortunately, every day more maternity homes offer the option of choosing the posture in which we feel more comfortable to give birth, whether we want anesthesia or not, even some have enabled specially decorated rooms where the woman feels more relaxed.

In conclusion, I prefer a more natural and pleasant birth but with the health guarantees of a hospital and the support of a team of specialists.

Which option do you prefer?
