Mattel removes toys with excess lead in Spain

I don't know what the soap opera will end between China and the toy industry, nor is it the fault of the man who makes dangerous toys or who sells them under his brand without having made rigorous controls.

The truth is that for the third time in just over a month, Mattel “voluntarily” withdraws a game of 850,000 toys worldwide, of which 1,580 pieces have been ordered to be removed from sale in Spain.

In total they are eight toy models that contain high levels of lead: the locomotive of the truck with a Geotrax trailer and seven pieces of Barbie furniture (not the Barbie doll).

The pieces of furniture affected are: the kitten of the Barbie cat house, the puppy of the Barbie dog house, the sofa and coffee table game bag, the Barbie sofa and coffee table kit, the Barbie bath kitten, the table dog and office chair, and the dog, food dishes, salad and table potatoes and Barbie chairs.

If you think you have bought any of these toys, check the reference number indicated on the Mattel customer service page, where you will find a complete list with the photos of the toys to better identify them.

Contacting the customer service telephone number (900 102 390) will replace the part with a new one that will be sent to you by mail.

After this setback Mattel should review its list of suppliers, and we must see if it is able to pick up after such a discredit.
