Infant mortality in the world is reduced

According to an annual report on the state of childhood provided by UNICEF, infant mortality has been reduced considerably on our planet, reaching below 10 million in children under the age of 5 years. The figure is cause for joy, just 15 years ago, this was around 13 million.

Progress is perhaps somewhat slow, but it is linked to the help of different organizations and governments around the world and as we know, these are not enough to tackle the problem with greater force. The basic health programs such as vaccines, the promotion of breastfeeding, etc., are the elements responsible for this notable fall. Africa remains the continent that leads the ranking of child deaths, although the situation has improved, there is still much work to be done and there is a need to increase the help provided to the African continent. Expectations to meet the millennium goal, which aims to reduce infant mortality by two thirds in 2015, could be achieved but not equitably.

Latin America and the Caribbean are the places where the reduction has been very marked and the goal is expected to be achieved thanks to it. Africa is still one of the most punished continents and it is necessary to provide more help to reduce child mortality.
