Yummy Dough, the edible plasticine

This invention that we discussed today seems somewhat difficult to assume ... although it does not present difficulties to be digested. And if I had been told as a child that the plasticine that always had to move away from the mouth we would be able to eat it in the future would have seemed quite odd. Yummy Dough is a kind of edible modeling clay ready to put in the oven and swell the tooth after modeling it to our liking.

It is a baking mixture made with vegetable dyes and that looks like plasticine. It comes as a powder to which if we add water it becomes a soft dough that we can easily model and then bake it.

Yummy Dough is a product of Imaginarium, quite innovative and that encourages creativity and an opportunity to play with the elderly. On the Imaginarium website there is a section, the workshop, where we find model sheets for figures, and also tips and tricks.

The idea of being able to play with food seems attractive to me, but although they assure us that the modeling dough is 100% healthy and natural, and that it is manufactured in Germany under strict food and nutritional controls, I have doubts about its composition. This is what we found on the product description website:

Ingredients: wheat flour, sugar, wheat starch, whole egg powder, palm oil, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, dyes: beet red, curcumin, beta-carotene, patented blue V, milk protein, flavorings. May contain traces of lactose, nuts, almonds, eggs, sesame and celery.

Too many dyes and some not very natural on the one hand, and maybe too much sugar on the other, flavoring ... Come on, I would not include it as food in a healthy diet, although as sporadic it can be fun.

Other indications for the product are that it does not carry yeast, that it does not stick to the fingers, that it takes to dry and does not lose its shape or color in the oven. The content of each pack of Yummy Dough is 113 g of red mixture, 113 g yellow, 113 g green, 113 g blue, a dispenser and a spatula. It is recommended to eat the baked mixture before 2 days and add only 15 ml of water. Cooking times depend on the thickness and size of the figure.

Yummy Dough, the edible plasticine, is recommended for children from 3 years and costs 9'95 euros in Imaginarium. I stay, to model, with traditional plasticine and to make baked figurines, with a good dough of homemade flour ... Although it is not so colorful sure that kids like to participate in the kitchen.
