Prevent deaths by accident

Some 2,000 children still die every year from accidents worldwide. And although most of these deaths occur in poor countries, in the more developed countries, accidents with terrible consequences occur. Prevent accidental deaths in children It is the objective of the brochure "Have fun without risks", published by the World Health Organization that I present.

The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) published a World Report on Injury Prevention in Children that collected statistics on accidental deaths in children for the first time.

The report explains that the causes of death by accident cannot always be prevented, but they could, with basic protective measures, possibly be reduced by half.

The booklet entitled "Have fun without risks" which they published also contains basic recommendations that can save many lives.

The most common causes of fatal accidents suffered by children are, in order of frequency, traffic accidents, drowning, fire burns, falls and poisoning.

The 28-page booklet, which can be downloaded for free on the WHO website, explains how we can prevent many of these deaths by accident.
