Contaminated artificial milk, condemned for the death of a baby

We have spoken on many occasions of cases of contaminated or deficient artificial milks, but, until now, we had not heard of a case in which a complaint for this reason would thrive in Spain. Now, a sentence condemns the death of a baby to the brand of contaminated artificial milk with which it was fed.

This is an exemplary sentence has condemned the pharmaceutical distributor Nutrition & Sante Iberia SL to compensate a family with more than 300,000 euros for the death of a baby in 2007. Contaminated milk was of the brand Sanutri Preterm.

A batch of milk Sanutri Preterm brand It turned out to have been contaminated with a bacterium and distributed to several hospitals. The girl, born prematurely, was fed with her and died at three months of age as a result of meningitis, the relationship of both circumstances being medically evident.

Although it is considered that the milk should have been contaminated in the production phase, the distributor has been held liable for the product for legal purposes, and must compensate the compensation determined by the judge, much higher than the one initially offered.

It adds to this that the same brand of artificial milk, Sanutri Preterm, has had other lots contaminated with dates after the case that led to the death of this little, so, once again, endangered especially vulnerable babies such as premature babies.

This sentence that condemns compensate a family for the death of their baby in relation to their feeding with contaminated artificial milkI hope it will be a first step for the authorities to understand and assume that artificial milk, since with current control measures it suffers bacterial or other contamination, should be considered a medicine and must, necessarily, pass the same controls as these, to avoid situations as serious as those reported. I am increasingly convinced that only that artificial milk is considered a medication, prescribed and controlled as such, can ensure that children fed with it do so with less risk.
