What do you carry in your bag now that you have children?

A couple of days ago we talked about parents who carry a bag almost by obligation, because of "fault" of the wallet, keys, mobile phone and children's items that should begin to be part of the transport material when you become a father. Today we will go a little deeper explaining a personal case: mine (which is the one I know most).

As I said, I have been carrying my purse for my little things for several years and in recent years I have seen how it has grown considerably. So much that there are already people who ask me what I carry in my bag.

Normally they are women (maybe men care less about what another man may have on them), but there have been several cases of friends or co-workers who take the opportunity to take a look when I open it or who directly ask me and me, Actually, I don't mind explaining what I wear.

The first time this happened I was with some coworkers and one said: “But where do you always go so loaded? What have you got there? At that time the rest of those present joined the question wanting to know, as if it were a doubt they had always had (why does Armando have that bag?) And now saw the opportunity to solve it.

What 's in my bag

I have a piece of Calvin Klein brand bag that has an enviable capacity. I try to take it as light as possible because I carry it with me every day (and I don't leave home without it), but when I go with the family it grows in size irremediably.

I will explain what I usually wear when we go for a walk, for example.

Internal pocket

There is an internal pocket that does not have a zipper, but which is perfect for carrying the keys. There are those from home, those from the car, those from work and those from my parents' house (if I leave them at home I won't have them when I need them).

Zip pocket

After the internal pocket comes another zip pocket, ideal for carrying the wallets. One of them is purse and the other is for cards and bills. Next to them there is the occasional purchase ticket scattered ...

Main area

The main area is the inside of the bag, without more. Here are the biggest things. Everything you find when you reach in without looking. Here we can find the following:

  • Two small water bottles, one with the name of each child: My children are so considerate that they take turns getting sick. When one is runny, the other is like a rose and vice versa, so it is better not to share slime in the water. Besides, Jon is pretty neat and Aran pretty little ...
  • Package of Maria cookies: The four members of my family are of rather thin complexion and eat little but many times. This makes us fill up at once, but we need to eat after a couple of hours because hunger rises. A packet of cookies Maria serves as emergency food when there is nothing else or when he catches us in the car
  • Photo camera Compact: Life is full of moments that deserve to be immortalized and more if you have children. You never know when something funny is going to happen or when there is going to be progress in your children's skills, so the ideal thing is to always carry a camera over what may happen. It is true that most phones today have a camera, but personally I am more friends with using a camera for this purpose.
  • A pair of pen: You always have to end up writing something, so one or two pens never go wrong.
  • Cloth bag: Most shops are giving up plastic shopping bags, so it is almost obligatory to carry a cloth bag to put things in.
  • Sunglasses: If I leave them at home or in the car I will never use them. You always realize that they are needed when the sun does not let you see (then the glasses are no longer nearby).
  • Jon sunglasses: If the sun bothers me, Jon does too. Aran, at the moment, does not have some, more than anything to prevent him from breaking them, because at this point he is more likely to step on them.

External pocket

On the outermost part of the bag there is a fairly large zip pocket that is also full:

  • Three or four diapers: Tucked in a plastic bag I always carry three or four diapers for Aran. Normally we only use one or two, but there are times when I do not remember to replace them and just in case the other two always remain
  • Package of wipes: Wearing diapers and not wearing wipes is nonsense. They also go great to clean emergency dirt (the child has touched a wheel, has fallen, has a face full of food and sticky hands, etc ...)
  • Use and throw changer: In Mercadona they sell very cheap use and throw changers that last, if they are not stained, an eternity (that is, it is not necessary to use and throw away). As you do not know where you are going to have to change your child, it is better to bring one (the face of relief that people put on when they see that you are going to change your child's poop on their sofa and they see you take out the changing table is priceless).
  • A pair of sandwich sachets: Appearing with a badly folded diaper full of dirty wipes sticking out while asking “where to throw it” is not one of a father's best moments. With an opaque snack bag, you can throw it inside, make a knot and smile proudly while asking the question.
  • Butt cream: Babies' ass is an area that deserves a separate chapter, because it does not warn before getting irritated. One day is wonderfully good and the next day it appears irritated. In case the flies, it is better to carry cream in your bag, lest you spend the day outside and your child suffers every time you clean (by your bad head).
  • Tom tom one: I must be one of the worst oriented men in the world. My ability to remember the streets is surprisingly nil as my memory is when making a trip. For this reason I need a browser whenever I am going to make a trip to an unknown place. I used to take it in the car because it was relatively large. One day they opened my car and took it away, so I bought the cheapest one I found that was, at the same time, the smallest. It hardly occupies, it takes me out of all the troubles and here I fix that they don't steal it from me (unless my bag is stolen, of course). It is tucked into a zipp plastic bag, along with the car charger.

As you can see I am well prepared. There are days when the weight is excessive and my shoulder suffers, but it is what it is. Mom usually takes Aran in the backpack because in the stroller she says “you ride”, so she doesn't carry a bag (and since we don't carry a stroller, this storage alternative is not left). Just left wait for them to grow to be able to eliminate things, slowly. At the time.
