"It's law", campaign for the rights of people with Down syndrome

A few days ago, on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated, and on that occasion it was launched "It's law", a new campaign to raise awareness about the rights of those with Down syndrome.

This is a television campaign carried out by Down Spain in collaboration with Obra Social Caja Madrid, based on the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to raise awareness in society about this issue.

The "It's Law" campaign It is composed of three interesting announcements, of thirty seconds each, in which three fundamental rights of people are addressed:

  • Right to work, in which we see how a worker asks the head of human resources to hire Maria definitively, telling him that what is not profitable is to let her go.

  • Right to equality and non-discrimination, like that of this boy who normally accesses a disco, because he is old.

  • Right to live independently and to be included in the community, the video that heads these lines and tells the moment when a young man with Down syndrome is moving to a new home to live alone.

All the spots just remind us that

People with intellectual disabilities have rights recognized by the UN. It is of law.

As we can see, these are rights that he already claimed a few days ago, coinciding with March 21, the Manifesto "Because we have rights" for the speech at the congress.

Luís Ramón Veneros and Jesús López, both from DOWN ÁVILA, and Lucía Bravo, from DOWN TOLEDO, have become the protagonists of the three stories told in the campaign. In addition, another young man from the APROCOR Foundation has participated lending his voice to the narration.

The ads of the campaign for the rights of people with Down syndrome "It's Law" They can be seen on different Spanish, national and regional television networks, as well as heard on different radio stations in their audio version.
