Special Infant feeding: homemade milkshake recipes for worried mothers (II)

Three days ago we showed you three homemade smoothie recipes for children, intended for worried mothers. We call it that, as we also call today's entry, because high-calorie shakes are not usually really necessary for children.

Let's say that the real recipients are the children who really eat very little because they still do not accept solids (or choke on them) and they are not very friends with the crushed ones, which is already bad luck.

Anyway, even when children eat well (not because mothers think about it, but because they eat what they need), there are mothers who like to give their children some more caloric food, basically to keep the feeling that At least at that meal, his son has eaten.

These shakes might be interesting for these mothers, although they should keep in mind that lthey have a lot of calories and in Spain the problem with food and children is not due to lack, but to excess (This would be something like a warning: "use these shakes in moderation").

Homemade vanilla milkshake with Maria cookie

To make a vanilla flavored milkshake with Maria cookie we need the following ingredients:

  • An egg flan.
  • Two cookies Maria.
  • A vanilla yogurt.
  • 10 grams of whole milk powder (one tablespoon).

Because of the ingredients it carries, this smoothie could be taken by children from 12 months, provided they have already tried the egg, of course. With 12 months, most likely take a little, but not all, because it is about a milkshake that contributes 359 Kcal.

The shake contains 14% protein, 65% carbohydrates and 21% fat.

Homemade plum smoothie

To make a homemade smoothie flavored with plums (this I would say is the strangest taste for children, by unusual) we need the following ingredients:

  • A yogurt with plum flavor.
  • 60 grams of fresh cheese (a small tub).
  • 130 grams of plums.
  • A small toast

This milkshake contributes 302 Kcal and it consists of 18% protein, 52% carbohydrates and 30% fat.

Homemade Peach Smoothie

To make a homemade peach flavored smoothie we need the following ingredients:

  • A peach yogurt.
  • 20 grams of baby cereals (two tablespoons).
  • 20 grams of crushed almonds powder.
  • 10 grams of milk powder (one tablespoon).

This milkshake provides 368 Kcal and consists of 13% protein, 48% carbohydrates and 39% fat.

I warn again

They are shakes with a very high amount of calories. Delicious, sure, but with lots of calories. Most likely, our children will take them to licking and then observe that until the next meal they spend more hours than usual, or that at the next meal they eat less than they usually eat.

This is logical, precisely because of what I am commenting on: they carry a lot of calories, and in some children, the fact of having a whole shake can mean having half the calories you need that day.

Logic tells me that in reality, each prepared shake can serve as a snack for a couple of children, more if we take into account that they are made with yogurt, that they could be a bit thick and that to make them more liquid we will add a little milk (which will give us more total amount).

I repeat, children eat what they need, no more. But if you are worried and you are thinking of going to the pharmacy to spend your money on envelopes for children who do not eat, to mix with water or milk, then give them some shakes of these, which are at least made at home and are cheaper.
