96 percent of respondents believe that smoking should be prohibited inside the car if there are children

Seven days ago we launched a survey following the approach of the College of Physicians to ban smoking in the car when there are children.

Therefore, we wanted to know your opinion and the response has been blunt. Nothing less than him 96 percent of respondents believe that smoking should be prohibited inside the car if there are children.

There is no doubt that the effects of tobacco on minors is harmful to their health, in addition to being a bad example. Only the remaining 4 percent believe that smoking inside the car should not be prohibited when children are carried inside it, although not because they deny it is harmful, but because they believe it should be the parents' initiative, without the need for a law that prohibits it .

Between the arguments of those who believe in the ban There are all kinds of justifications, of which I leave some:

The health of your children should always have priority over vices that must be controllable.
It is forbidden to smoke at I don't know how many meters from a school, so a car is a much smaller and therefore harmful space.
Because children are not aware of the risk they are running and cannot say NO.

For its part, we have also consulted if you think it would be possible to apply the ban Being a private space. The majority, 73 percent said yes, although there are doubts that the ban is fulfilled.

Some of the ideas that have been considered to apply the ban have been:

Just as you watch if you speak without hands-free, if you wear the belt ... then you can watch if there are children if you smoke.
Placing smoke detectors inside the vehicle.
If there is no punishment, it will hardly be obeyed.
For the same reason that the ban on talking on the phone works.

Recall also that apart from the harm to minors, smoking in the car is considered a distraction at the wheelWell, obviously it reduces driving skills, being doubly dangerous for children.

Finally, the 67 percent of respondents replied that smoking in the car with children should be considered child abuse.

As always, we appreciate your participation in our survey, as it allows us to better understand your opinions about the topics that interest parents most.
