The Nintendo 3DS will be used as an audio guide in the Louvre Museum

Perhaps the movement of the Nintendo 3DS so that it is not associated only with a console to play is more important than it seems. And it is that this machine, which I was lucky to try a long time ago and I loved it, can be obtained to make a visit to the Louvre much richer and more entertaining. Because more than eight million visitors a year will be able to access the Nintendo 3DS and use it as an audio guide and many more features to explore the museum.

The application offers descriptions and detailed information of 700 works of art. It also offers an interactive map that makes it virtually impossible to get lost while also helping you tour the gigantic museum. It is based on the two screens, one of which has 3D capability and without the need to use glasses. In addition to the explanations that appear on the Nintendo it is possible to access high-definition images or reconstructions in three dimensions to enjoy the experience even more. In the creation of the application has participated Nintendo and it seems that the sponsorship is from Korean Air.

It is already available, at least this is explained by the Louvre website, the service with this machine for all visitors who wish. It is planned that the current application will incorporate more options in the future to get a most instructive experience in the Museum. Apparently, they are planning to make a circuit about Egypt that will include options to participate in multimedia games of questions and answers.

The machine can be rented at the counters or at the dispensing machines of the museum and redeem the ticket along with an accreditation. Up to four spaces have been enabled to obtain the Nintendo: under the pyramid and one in each entry identified as Denon, Sully, and Richelieu. The cost is 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for those under 18. It has additional discount plans and there are promotions for disabled visitors, unemployed (in English you say jobseeker, looking for employment, which is more elegant) or with limited income. The available languages are French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese and Korean. The application has no cartridges and cannot be taken out of the museum (I imagine that because they remove your identification system, so you better return it ...)

In addition, the aim of the Museum is attract families with children because they are accustomed to the use of this technology. The application has submitted Shigeru Miyamoto, the most representative creator of Nintendo video games, which has worked for months together with the museum to develop the application.

The calculation of the napkin of the 8 million visitors per year means that every day, dividing by 360 days, more than 20,000 people are in the museum, who between 10 hours of visits, can assume that there are more than 2,000 people per hour. It seems a lot of people although I do not know the surface of the Museum and of course there will come a day when the Nintendo 3DS sure is used to also manage the traffic of people.
