United States warns of the proper use of a Fisher-Price rocking hammock after the death of ten babies

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, together with the Fisher-Price brand, have issued a statement in which parents are alerted to the proper use of the Rock'n Play rocking hammock, after the death of 10 babies since 2015, due to the fact that the hammock has turned over.

Do not use in more than three months

That's why he warns that the hammock cannot be used after the baby turns three months old or is able to turn alone. They ensure that the reported deaths show that there are parents who continue to use it with older babies (the deceased babies were all older than three months), and without putting on the safety harness.

It is a top selling hammock on Amazon that has balancing programs, and several melodies and soothing sounds. It is promoted for both baby naps and nighttime sleep.

The commission reminds parents of the importance of always use the safety harness when the baby is placed in the hammock or when sleeping in this type of inclined hammocks.

In addition, they recommend that blankets, pillows, stuffed toys or other items should never be placed when the baby is put to sleep and always do it on his back, that is, on his back.

A spokeswoman for the Consumer Products Safety Commission says they learned of the last death just over a month ago. and ensure that they are studying what to do. "If it turns out that the product must be removed, we will do so," he told CNN.

Fisher Price says the hammock is safe

Meanwhile, Chuck Scothon, CEO of Fisher-Price, one of the leading manufacturers of toys and childcare articles, laments the deaths and ensures that the hammock meets all safety requirements.

Today, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) & Fisher-Price issued an alert warning parents and caregivers to discontinue use of the Rock 'n Play Sleeper when infants begin to roll over. Click here to learn more about a safe sleep environment: //t.co/wrDeE3Trl7 pic.twitter.com/qXvEbf6ZgQ

And in Spain?

On the Fisher Price Spain website we have not currently seen this model of hammocks, although it can be purchased at Amazon and the Sweet Dreams version has a very similar structure.

If you have this hammock model at home or a similar one, always follow the manufacturer's safety instructions to the letter and never leave the baby alone unattended.
