"Mathías y Amadou", a story that speaks of solidarity to children

Perhaps your children have already asked you questions about images of other children in other countries that live in a very different way from ours. Today we want to talk about a beautiful children's book entitled "Mathías and Amadou", whose objective is to make children aware of the need for rich countries to help the less fortunate.

The book is a project of the European Union for children to understand the need to cooperate with countries that need help, poor countries that do not have enough resources to get ahead alone.

Countries in Africa, America or Asia where children do not have access to education, they have no schools to go to, no access to drinking water, or they cannot go to the doctor because there are very few hospitals and they are often far from their villages ...

The book, with simple and colorful illustrations and a short text, you can read or download online. He tells us how in one night a child can meet, understand and fall in love with an African people and their people. It presents a reality without dramatisms, suitable to arouse the interest and curiosity of the little ones.

There is also a pedagogical manual developed by the Information and Communication Unit of the General Development Directorate of the European Commission that can be used at home or at school to take advantage of all the possibilities of the story and expand information, as well as to learn what Each of us can do to alleviate poverty in the world.

So that our little ones and ourselves know the reality of these children, the book "Mathías y Amadou" aims to awaken development cooperation, as indicated by its subtitle. Because it is never too early to talk about solidarity.
