An idea to imitate: parks with accessible areas for children with mobility problems

We share this good news that I think should serve as an example to many other cities. Let's start by asking for safe parks, but we go further and want parks with integration zones for children with disabilities.

The Pericones de Gijón park will have a playground specially adapted for children with mobility problems. The municipal Parks and Gardens service will prepare a space for the next installation of a zone of “children's integration games”.

The works that are intended to be undertaken include the realization of a floor with rubber safety pavement surrounded by a perimeter corridor that allows communicating the different areas of the area without interfering with the games themselves.

It is also planned to build two areas with accessible street furniture, designed primarily for caregivers of children. This will make it easier to move on wheels. Several areas of the park are currently sand, so it is difficult to transit the strollers or wheelchairs.

The new “integration” zone of the park will have a more accessible design and the games will also be adapted for children with mobility problems. Isn't it a good idea for all the kids to enjoy in the park?
