"World's Best Father", photographic game or irresponsible father?

From Xatakafoto they show us the photographic project of Dave Engledow, a father based in Maryland (United States), who has managed to unite with a good dose of humor his two great passions: photography and his daughter Alice Bee.

"World's Best Father" It aims to caricature the image of a irresponsible father in the day-to-day actions you take with your daughter. Of course, none of the situations is true, but that it is a photo game based on the editing of the images, and by the way, impeccably achieved.

Dave started the series when Alice was barely 10 weeks old, and has reached the present, that the little girl is over 2 years old.

His intention was to give his daughter a gift, a special album that no other child could have, and of course he wants to make it clear that It's something that no parent should do (and so he knows through the video). It is simply a visual impact game what to take in humor key.

For its part, it is a activity that unites father and daughter, since doing photo shoots with children, if done patiently, respecting their times and turning it into a game can be a lot of fun. My daughters and I had a great time and shared moments of complicity when we did photo shoots.

In the video he explains the reason for the project, as well as discovering the editing process behind the photos. The digital edition is something that many photographers disagree with, as they consider it cheating, which reduces the authenticity of the image. Personally, I think that when it helps to achieve the desired effect, it is a valid resource, especially if results as creative as what Dave has achieved with World's Best Father.

Not only has he created a very special album and very different from what we are used to seeing in baby photography, but he has decided to go further and make a calendar with the photographs of the project. For this, he wanted to assess the acceptance of the public through Kickstarter and has managed in just 15 days to “burst” the money needed to the 2013 calendar by Alice Bee.

Beyond the photographic

Without a doubt, from a photographic point of view it is a most creative work. But beyond that, it fades a bit when it becomes a business opportunity. Although it is necessary to clarify that the photos are already made and that by popularity or whatever they are going to become a calendar, it was not the first intention to pose the girl to earn money.

On the other hand, the final result of the images can reach Hurt susceptibilities since a two-year-old girl with a knife in her hand, inside a pot or crying in the crib while dad reads a book with ear helmets are quite controversial situations, even reckless and insensitive.

What do you think of "World's Best Father" photo project? Do you see him as a curious photo game or the father brushes the limit of what irresponsible?
