The educating TV: 'Pocoyo'

There are times when there are television products that achieve tremendous success among children without them being suitable spaces for this type of spectators. But, fortunately, on other occasions we find programs that get a great recognition from the viewers and that also they offer the ideal of educational television that parents would like for your children.

This is the case of 'Pocoyo', a series of animation well known to all that is an obvious example of how television can be approached by children by offering education, positive values and a good time of fun. 'Pocoyo' was created in 2005 and we have always been proud of it for having Spanish creators, who have managed to produce a quality product that has been exported to many countries abroad.

Currently 'Pocoyo' has its place fixed in the mornings of the Clan TV programming (around 9:30 and 10:00 hours), although its chapters can also be found on the RTVE.es website. Their episodes are usually about 7 minutes long and the series has three seasons behind (through which more than 120 episodes have been aired), a multitude of specials and even a 24-minute movie.

Who is Pocoyo?

Pocoyo is a young child who lives in an imaginary world (although he has a good number of characteristics that resemble reality). This boy presentedto an innate curiosity about everything around him, a world full of new things to discover that appear before him little by little. In addition, Pocoyo stands out for having a positive attitude that he maintains at all times in each of his games and adventures.

Pocoyo is accompanied by several animals that present themselves as their friends and playmates. They are figures that are linked to him and that they represent friendship but also an approach to the animal world. Among them, Pato and Elly (a duck and a female elephant) stand out with contrasting personalities that end up complementing Pocoyo in each story.

What can we expect from the series?

'Pocoyo' is a series on constant consonance with that stage of reality discovery which all children face. Not only does he manage to activate his imagination and creativity, but he seeks to transmit basic learning about different aspects surrounding the child, a teaching always done with a kind and fun tone that starts from Pocoyo himself, who usually keeps the smile on his appearances.

The world of 'Pocoyo' manages to get the attention of the little ones due to its visual presentation, in which we observe a world in three dimensions where objects and characters stand out that are developed with Pocoyo in each chapter. This is one of the aspects where the series stands out, through a series of shapes and colors that stand out and are aimed at capturing the attention of children spectators.

The learning that transmits 'Pocoyo' is based on teaching basic aspects of reality (names of animals, objects, colors ...), but it is also a series that does not forget to release adequate messages about the correct attitude when it comes to play or face different aspects of living together. To Pocoyo You are taught to share, to be educated with your friends or not to be selfish on a day-to-day basis, aspects that are also transmitted to children.

The series has a male voiceover, which tells what happens and interacts with the characters of 'Pocoyo' and with the spectators. It is the only adult representation that appears constantly in fiction, which serves as the guide of the protagonist and narrator of events. Finally, in the episodes of 'Pocoyo' it is usual that the viewer's response is sought, through questions asked by this voice that seek to get your attention or cause them to answer some of the questions that arise.

In the chapter selected in this article we see how Pocoyo discovers a new animal. It is a horse and the child is so fascinated that he becomes infatuated with him and wants one at all costs. The episode continues to show Pocoyo's complaints, even after Elly and Pato carried out the idea of making a homemade one. In the end, Pocoyo realizes that by showing his rejection he has hurt Elly's feelings, so decides to apologize and accept the toy They have manufactured for him.

'Pocoyo', national educational product

Currently, 'Pocoyo' is in the production phase of the chapters that will correspond to its fourth season and that have no release date on television yet. The series had chapters in its third season in which an approach was made to English, a requirement that more and more parents are looking for in a television product.

Although some will find in 'Pocoyo' a certain television saturation (something that does not help the long wait we face until the new episodes are broadcast), the truth is that it is a series with the necessary pillars to develop the imagination of children's viewers, while transmitting healthy values and desire to discover the possibilities of the world before their eyes.
