How to convert a normal Ikea crib into a colecho crib

There are many maternity homes in Spain that already incorporate a mini-cradle next to the mother that is placed next to the bed by way of baby cot, in clear proof that it is not so bad to see that having the baby in the same space (so by boat soon the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, for example).

At home many parents try to do the same, since it is more comfortable for the mother and the baby, providing a safe environment for the child without moving away from the mother. The problem is that colecho cribs are not what is said to be economic and, as a solution to this, in Pirates of Ikea they have converted a normal and current crib into a mini crib suitable for putting next to the bed.

I'm not especially handyman, so I don't know if I would dare to do something like that (I guess it's all about putting on), but it's very well explained and doesn't really seem very complicated.

The cradle chosen for the invention is SNIGLAR, which costs € 44.99, Away from € 170 on top of Colecho cribs. What the aforementioned pirate has done is to cut the crib so that it is not so large (although in my view this is optional and I only see it necessary if the entire crib does not fit next to the bed), both wide and long

Then he has cut one of the sides, so that it does not cover the entire height of the cradle but only the part that goes from the surface of the cradle to the top, so that can open to leave that side exposed and be able to attach the cradle to the bed. Obviously, and as recommended whenever you talk about making colecho, the surface of the mattress should be at the same height as the surface of the bed, getting both mattresses to join without leaving gaps where the baby can get trapped.

In summary, the author has managed to have a very versatile small crib, since he can use it as a cot cot and also as a normal crib (Colecho cribs don't always have this option).

Finally, he has put four wheels to the crib, in case he decides to move it on occasion. Again, and for safety, the ideal thing is that the wheels carry a brake and that the cradle cannot move away from the bed. We do not see that he has devised any fixing system, but perhaps a few simple flanges to join the bed base, or a pair of "L" if the bed is made of canapé are enough (you open the sofa, put the "L" turned and close the sofa ).

In any case, you will not deny me that the result is fantastic and for a more than acceptable price.
