Talking in Art invites us to the exhibition of Miradas en Paralelo de Fisac and de la Sota

We have been able to join one of the last workshops organized by Talk in art at ICO Museum from Madrid for families. The workshop is held after visiting the Exhibition of Looks in parallel starring Miguel Fisac Y Alejandro de la Sota, two Spanish architects who were born in 1913 and have been the subject of a tribute in the centenary of his birth by the ICO Museum presenting many of his works and his works developed, especially in the second half of the twentieth century in Spain.

The explanations of Talking in Art, we have been with Nacho and with Elena, have allowed us to know how are the structures and the use of the bone beams of a construction, how objects were designed, what were the materials, textures and shapes used by these great Spanish architects who with their works served as a reference to the generations later. In the exhibition you can see more than 500 documents which include drawings, models, photographs, objects and even furniture. And in the workshop the challenge was to apply the knowledge and teachings of the visit to the exhibition.

The visit has been very well organized and they have divided the group into two, one of the smallest, around seven years, and the other of older, over ten years, always accompanied by the fathers / mothers that we watched and listened very attentive because many of the constructions that we have seen are classic of the Madrid city. For example, the top photo is from gymnasium of the Maravillas College of Madrid, in Joaquín Costa Street, with a wrought iron structure and an inverted vault that supports the weight of the secondary classrooms and the patio terrace, while the cantilever stands take full advantage of the space that separates the court from the wall. On that basketball court played many players who served as a base, reference and example for those who have recently achieved many successes in Spanish basketball.

In the image below the building appears, initially from IBM, of the Paseo de la Castellana 4 of Madrid opened in 1967. This work, which is still used as an office building, is one of Miguel Fisac's typical works in which repetition and functionality prevailed.

And in the subsequent workshop All families become integral artists, creating a new design for the interiors of some of the works of these two architects. So the children created a bed table, a chair-shelf, a sunbed-umbrella and many more ideas that they also presented to all participants at the end. In our case we were encouraged with an idea for the gym and that it was a boxesalt, which allowed box and jump and in the event that something happened to the athlete there was also a stretcher to assist him.

At the end of each participant they gave us a magnificent exhibition notebook which includes a map with the routes that can be made in Madrid to know the work of Miguel Fisac and Alejandro de la Sota.
