Documentary '24 hours in a pediatric ICU': babies fighting for their lives

We want to share today the documentary '24 hours in a pediatric ICU ', by Ander Duque, which I am sure will touch the hearts of many of you. Those who have not gone through it, will feel moved by the fragility of these babies fighting for their life at every minute, and those who have spent it with their own children, memories of very hard times will be removed.

We can see the trailer of the documentary by the hand of El Mundo, just over two minutes of images that show us the reality that these small great fighters and their families face.

They are premature babies, some with very low weight connected to machines, respirators (there are babies that have only weighed 500 grams), babies with congenital heart disease, malformations, babies with problems derived from childbirth or even babies who have gone home with their parents, but have returned due to a respiratory infection.

The documentary, which was originally to be called "Whispers", aims to highlight the impact of bronchiolitis on newborns, the most vulnerable.

Known as VRS virus It is the cause of most hospital admissions in winter, mostly affecting infants and children under two years. Between 0.5% and 2% of those affected are hospitalized, although this hospitalization rate reaches 13% in children considered high risk such as premature babies, children with congenital heart disease or chronic lung disease.

We have barely been able to see a couple of minutes, but we miss a skin-to-skin situation of the parents with the baby, in fact of some father. We already know how important it is for the recovery of these little ones the contact, the voices and the pampering of mom and dad 24 hours a day.
