More protected childhood: children can report any violation of their rights directly to the UN

Today the III Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a giant step towards a most protected childhood. This new measure implies that Children may report any violation of their rights directly to the UN, in the event that your country has done nothing to prevent it.

Ten countries have ratified the protocol. In addition to Spain, Albania, Bolivia, Gabon, Germany, Montenegro, Portugal, Slovakia, Thailand and Costa Rica, and more work is being done so that more and more children from more countries can access international justice.

Millions of children around the world suffer tremendous violations of their rights, from children subjected to physical or psychological violence to children forced into forced labor, early marriages or sexual exploitation.

Thanks to III Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child Children may file a complaint against any violation of their rights and their case will be examined by an Expert Committee. If they consider that their State does not respond adequately to abuses, they may be examined internationally.

Children are the most vulnerable in case of abuse, so it is extremely important that there is a direct complaint through which the child, as the holder of their rights, can claim in case of violation.
