A hairdresser makes discounts to children who read aloud while cutting their hair

Today there are so many entertainments for the little ones that it is difficult for them to focus on the books. But it is important that we encourage children to read, reading with them first, educating by example and fostering the love of reading.

A hairdresser from MIchigan (United States) has launched an initiative to promote reading among the little ones who is giving a lot to talk about. Discounts children who read aloud while cutting their hair.

Ryan Griffin, owner of the barber shop 'The Fuller Cut', in Ypsilanti, is the promoter of this idea that is having a great reception among children and their parents. "Parents like this idea and children like to receive money back," the hairdresser confessed.

Reading is a habit that greatly enriches children. Contact with the books will make them grow interested in them, and will establish the reading habit, which not only improves school results, but also helps them to be more creative and imaginative, to rely more on their own abilities, and ultimately, will improve your development.

In addition, reading aloud helps improve memory ability, concentration, helps increase phonological awareness and develop oral language.

Specific books

An added curiosity in the barbershop of Mr. Griffin is that there are no books available for children to read, but that they have a specific theme.

All the books that children can read at the hairdresser have a positive image of African Americans, whether from books for the little ones as biographies for children of famous people like Obama, astronauts, athletes or African-American writers.

The idea is to inspire children through the most notorious characters. Really the ultimate goal, says Griffin, is that "the children return to 'The fuller Cut' as adults at the university and tell us: reading here made me want to be a writer or journalist."
