One in four European children is allergic

This is what an immunology specialist says, Dr. Ignacio Ansotegui, belonging to the Immunology and Allergy Service of The Royal Hospitals and The Queen's University of Belfast.

Comment that allergies in children have increased dramatically and that they can be talked about as the non-infectious epidemic of the 21st century. In addition, he added that it will continue to grow.

Between the epidemic of childhood obesity and that of allergic children, this century is complete. But beyond jokes, what is going on, why are there more and more cases of allergic children?

Well, the answer lies in environmental factors such as the increase in pollution, the warming of the Earth, the improvement in the quality of life associated with greater hygiene and the proliferation of stress. Problems all in our hands change, no matter how much it sounds like utopia, so that our children live in a healthier world.

That on the one hand. On the other, the specialist comments that the diagnosis and early detection of allergies is essential to identify the allergens that produce them and act accordingly improving preventive treatments and symptoms.

Asthma is the most common allergy among children. In fact, it is the most frequent disease in the child population and it is obviously a consequence, as in the case of other allergies, of the current lifestyle, since 20 years ago its incidence was half of cases.

The great proliferation of allergies in children has meant that the same budget allocated to research on obesity and childhood cancer is destined to their research, diseases that complete the quartet of the evils that afflict children today.

I think it's great to investigate to improve your treatment, but it would be better to avoid them by changing your life habits. Slowly. I think it is not impossible if we begin to get involved in your solution. Or will it be too late? I hope not.
