The pediatrician who does magic to ensure that children (almost) do not know about vaccines

I am lucky to share a consultation with a pediatrician who does magic with children. They earn them with laughter, jokes, games and love and they accept much better to be explored. There are always children who are not for those, of course, but for many children it is a pleasure to go see him, despite being ill.

I have remembered my partner when I saw this pediatrician who, in a video that is being increasingly disseminated, does everything possible to get children to find out as little as possible about vaccines.

The art of diverting attention

Receiving vaccines hurts. And children are even more upset because they don't understand why we hurt them, so the most interesting thing is to try to get them to carry it as well as possible. It has long been said that it is best to achieve divert attention of the baby or child, whether singing, or playing games, either as this pediatrician does, with sleight of hand, and everything that can be done to, in a way, 'dizzy' and make the child laugh.

When they are younger they talk about making them suck, even cheat their brain with something they like to suck, something relatively sweet. We already know that breastfeeding helps in those moments. Sucrose is also being used a lot, which administered before the puncture seems to make them cry less (in my primary care center they say they will soon bring it for us to use).

What vaccines do you administer?

Here in Spain the usual thing is that the vaccines will be administered by the nursing staff, at least in the social security consultations, where we have functions of disease prevention and health promotion, among others. The vaccines we administer come in ready-made syringes, which are nothing like those used by the pediatrician in the video and, if administered at that rate, they can generate more local reactions and worse absorption.

So the time span of puncture in our case is greater, and it's time to do other adventures, such as telling them a thousand stories, talking about the drawing that we are going to give them later or singing with them a song (or what each professional comes up with ).

In any case, This pediatrician is an example to follow, that we are the doctors and nurses of the children, we must not forget it, although normally we turn to the parents.
