The first 'lunar station' for children with cancer is inaugurated in a Spanish hospital

The diagnosis of cancer in a child is devastating news for the whole family. The first thing you ask yourself is "why children?" They have to go through hard and long treatments in which children must undergo some degree of isolation to avoid the risk of infections. To make the stay more bearable and forget about a time where they are, it has been inaugurated the first 'lunar station' for children with cancer in a Spanish hospital.

For months, the Juegaterapia Foundation and the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Gregorio Marañón Hospital have been working very hard to convert an isolation room into a space where children can play astronauts who star in an interstellar trip.

Fernando was the first astronaut to visit the space base located in the pediatric oncology plant of that hospital. Two rooms have become lunar modules to create a much less cold space for small patients.

Children will be able to control the room from their tablet, they will have wall screens to watch movies or learn about many subjects thanks to educational content adapted to their age, while images accompanied by a surround sound can be projected on the ceiling. It also has a space capsule, toys, androids and even the sheets have a very spatial appearance.

Of course, it is also equipped with all the medical equipment that a pediatric isolation room requires, but without forgetting that its occupants are children who should not lose their ability to play while fighting as champions against cancer.
