Babies prefer bright colors

Dr. Anna Franklin, from the Surrey Baby Lab, has been studying more than 250 babies to see which colors they prefer.

The conclusions of this investigation demolish the myth that newborns are colorblind. According to Franklin, babies can see colors although this ability is something that develops in the months following birth.

A variety of tests carried out by the laboratory have shown how babies see colors and which are their favorites. Studies found that already at four months Babies have a preference for certain colors and who prefer bright colors. The investigation includes the use of a special camera, originally designed to test the pilots of the British Air Force, in order to follow the movements of the eyes and see which of the two colors offered to them look more. Thanks to this machine they have arrived at the conclusion that when colors are presented in pairs, babies tend to look longer at blue, red, purple and orange and less at brown. They have also found that if one shows the babies several times the color blue and then another shade of the same color, they treat it the same and get bored but if one shows them a green, they get back on their feet and start looking again.
