They detect in a nursery of Valencia a virus that makes lose the nails

I confess that I had not heard of this rare infection that causes nail loss. About one hundred children from a nursery school in Valencia will undergo a blood test to determine if they are affected by a "onychomadesis", which is the name of the virus that causes nail loss.

The decision was made after verifying that 11 children in this nursery are affected for the viral disease that may have been spread through the exchange of toys or personal items of minors. Although there is also the possibility that they have become infected outside of school, in some public park or garden, since there are other children with onychomadesis who do not go to daycare.

With the blood test to the children of the kindergarten the presence of the virus can be ruled out in them, since some small ones could be carriers although they have not yet developed it: the sequels appear 35 or 40 days after the child contracts the infection.

Onychomadesis is an infection caused by a virus that causes the change of the nails, starting in the womb and becoming complete, although it has no other symptoms. Fortunately, it is a problem that remits spontaneously, leaves no sequelae and the nails grow back normally.

The Ministry has indicated that in principle the nursery school is still open, since the focus of the virus is the children themselves and not the school facilities.
