'Desk Challenge': the last absurd viral challenge among teenagers

The challenge seems simple: just hang a chair from the coat rack, sit on it and put the desk on top. Some manage to maintain balance, but others fall because the hanger does not resist weight. Then, it is immortalized in a video and uploaded to social networks, such as Tik Tok.

It is known by the name of Desk Challenge, and is the last challenge among teenagers that circulates on the Internet and that has caused the expulsion for three days of between 15 and 20 students of the IES Antonio Serna in Albaterra (Alicante).

An absurd and risk-free fashion

Only a few days ago we talked about another fashion challenge among young people: 'the game of death', which can even make them lose consciousness. Although it is true that this new one does not become so dangerous, it does involve risks for adolescents.

The test does not end until the coat rack expires, which happens with a big blow to the kid, who it can cause injuries to the neck, back, arms and legs.

In Babies and more The 'alphabet of the devil', the new viral challenge that has resurfaced in an institute of Asturias

To stop 'this fashion' the center has decided to expel the young people who intervened in the video that was released on the Internet and that raised the alarms. But not all parents understand the school's disciplinary action and consider it excessive, according to the newspaper Information.

But it seems that it is not the only center of Alicante where this challenge has become fashionable, although the solutions have been different. The IES San Vicente del Raspeig, explains the newspaper, also discovered that the hooks on the hangers were folded, so it is more than possible that this absurd and risk-filled challenge is being carried out. So you directly removed the coat hangers.

After watching the video that has raised the alarms, do you think that disciplinary measures are needed in the institutes to end these challenges?

Personally I think that Faced with this type of viral 'games' we cannot look the other way, neither parents nor teachers. Experts also explain that if we detect any visible mark on the child's body, or perceive changes in his behavior or school performance, it is essential to talk with him to look for the causes and address the problem.

And, of course, we must also monitor what our children see on the Internet, protect them from cyberbullying and keep them safe from content that is inappropriate for their age, such as dangerous viral challenges, pornography, violence ...
