The importance of nutrition in preventing overweight and obesity is already taken into account

To work for the prevention of childhood obesity, and for the protection of health It is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, we have seen it with the signing of the new PAOS Code that includes the field of advertising aimed at minors on the Internet.

And also with the creation of the Observatory of Nutrition and study of Obesity. That there is still a long way to go, not only does the general director of Public Health, Quality and Innovation (Mercedes Vinuesa) say it; I also affirm this before news like this one that told us the intention on the part of a well-known company, to sell industrial pastries near schools. Mrs. Vinuesa has expressed a few days ago to the WHO, the commitment of the Spanish Government in the fight against childhood obesity. Within the framework of a European Conference on nutrition and noncommunicable diseases, Spain signs the Institutional Declaration that affects EU member states, whose objective is address the importance of nutrition to reduce morbidity - mortality associated with these diseases.

The Ministry has raised public-private multisectoral cooperation, and awareness of society, to combat excess weight in children and adolescents, a serious public health problem, which is increasingly occurring at earlier ages.

We have already talked about obesity and being overweight preventable diseases, as long as we don't lose sight of maintaining an energy balance. In this regard there are individual responsibilities and social commitments.

It is necessary to incorporate in our lives the principles of a healthy and balanced diet, and that from the mass media be informed about the products that compose it. It is from the moment that products manufactured with a lot of sugar, salt and unhealthy fats line the central aisles from supermarkets and large stores, from the moment we forget that in food, the really necessary products are not advertised.

Applaud the institutional efforts yes, ask them to increase, too, but above all create more social awareness towards the subject, and provoke in parents the need to find proven information to prevent these diseases from home.

We can start (for example) by remembering things we can do to get children to eat more fruits and vegetables, what do you think?
