13 series of our childhood to see again with our children

Most of The children's series of the 80s won the love of a whole generation of spectators, for his sympathy, his tenderness when it comes to telling various stories and his transmission of positive values, which turned his viewing into a more than recommended television option.

Although today our children can enjoy a wide variety of children's content through the screen, We propose you to take a tour of some of our childhood series with them. Seeing with them the drawings that marked us years ago is not only a perfect plan to enjoy as a family, but an opportunity to share memories of our childhood and rediscover, through their eyes, those characters that so dearly woke us up.

Sesame Street

We begin our review of the fiction series of our childhood with "Sesame Street", a television reference that arrived in Spain in 1979 from the United States. Here new characters were created that starred in stories that intermingled with the sketches of the original program.

Some of the most remembered characters are the frog Gustavo, Coco, the inseparable Epi and Blas, Espinete and Don Pimpon or the Caponata Chicken. But "Sesame Street" was not only composed of animated characters, but also flesh and blood actors who quickly won the affection of children.

Their educational content adapted to different ages: from the most basic learning for preschool children (numbers, figures, antonyms…), to stories and songs with wonderful morals for older children.

Dartacán and the three Musketeers

"Dartacán and the three Musketeers" was a Japanese animation series based on the work of Alejandro Dumas, "The three Musketeers", who arrived in Spain in 1982. This wonderful children's adaptation tells the story of Dartacán, who sets sail for Paris to become a "musketeer." There he will meet Amis, Pontos and Dogos, and together he will face the evil plans of Cardinal Richelieu.

This series is added to other children's adaptations of literature novels, which also premiered on television in the 80s. Such is the case of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes", "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", "Anne of the Green Texas" or "Don Quijote of La Mancha", for example.

Among the main values ​​shown in all these series, stands out above all the companionship, loyalty and friendship.

David the Gnome

The "David the Gnome" series is another one of the TV references that marked the childhood of a whole generation, and which is also inspired by the books on gnomes by two Dutch authors: Will Huygen and Rien Poortvliet, who wrote and illustrated, respectively, the stories.

Released in 1985, it tells the story and the secrets of the gnomes, small beings that inhabit nature, live in family and ensure the well-being of the environment. The series focuses on the character of David, an elderly gnome who works as a doctor and lives with his wife Lisa under a tree.

If this series stands out for something, it is because of the transmission of positive values ​​towards nature, which can be seen from its first episode. And, chapter after chapter was intended to awaken an ecological feeling among the spectators, showing what life is like for animals and plants, and calling into question some of the actions of the human being.

The series also stands out for the positive attitude of the gnomes and their personal relationships, in which love and respect were always present.

Once upon a time…

"Once upon a time ..." was a French production composed of several series consisting of 26 chapters each. Each series had a specific theme, and both had only part of the title and the appearance of the main characters in common.

The first was "Once upon a time the man", premiered in Spain in 1979 and that narrated the history of human evolution from Prehistory to the French Revolution. The second was "Once upon a time space", released in 1982, that explained in a very graphic and simple way how the universe originated.

In 1987 he arrived "Once upon a time life" which is perhaps the best known and remembered series of this peculiar production. On this occasion it was intended to show how the human body works, what viruses and bacteria are, what role white and red blood cells play, or how the body defends itself against diseases. Later came other themes such as the Americas (1991), the inventors (1994) or the explorers (1996).

All these series stand out for their incalculable educational value and how well narrated they are from a plot and graphic point of view. So much so that many of them have been replenished on television to satiety and will never go out of style.

Heidi

"Heidi" is a Japanese animation series inspired by the homonymous book by the Swiss writer Johanna Spyri, who arrived on Spanish television in 1975, moving on to be part of childhood memories of several generations.

It tells the story of an orphan girl who is taken to the mountain to live with her grandfather, an elderly sullen who initially does not want to take care of her. Although the series may seem sad at times, the truth is that throughout its 52 chapters the viewer is impregnated with the values ​​that little Heidi embodies: joy, goodness, innocence, generosity and freedom.

But in addition to the values ​​of the character itself, the series also conveys important lessons, the most prominent being friendship, love for the family and respect for everything around us, including nature and animals.

The village of the Maple

Although it may not be one of the most remembered animation series, we did not want to miss the opportunity without including "The village of the Maple" in our review, as there are many teachings that leave us these lovely drawings.

"The village of the Maple" tells the story of a family of rabbits that arrive new to a village, being Patty, the middle daughter, the main protagonist. In the village several families of animals coexist, and the relationships between all its members and the adventures they live mark the thread of the plot.

Among the values ​​transmitted by the series stands out friendship and love for the family, as well as the importance of dealing with problems together, trusting friends.

This series of Japanese animation, composed of 52 chapters, arrived in our country in 1986 although we could only enjoy 26 chapters. As a curious fact, it should be noted that the catchy initial tune of the series was composed by Emilio Aragón and Rita Irasema, children of the remembered and beloved Miliki.

Willy Fog's Around the World

"Willy Fog's Around the World" is a TVE series broadcast in 1983 that became a true phenomenon in society at the time. It is an adaptation of Julio Verne's novel, 'Around the World in 80 Days', which collected the adventures of its protagonists and presented them in a children's version for the enjoyment of the little ones.

Between the innumerable values ​​that this series transmits to us highlights friendship and companionship, as well as the importance of staying together in the face of adversity and working in a team. The adventures of the Maya bee

"The adventures of the Maya bee" is a Japanese television series that tells the story of little Maya, a restless, curious and intelligent bee who lives in the forest with his inseparable friend, Willi. The drawings are based on a collection of tales about nature published in 1912 by the German Waldemar Bonsels.

Among the values ​​that it transmits to the smallest, the companionship and friendship, the importance of working as a team, optimism, courage, respect for nature and generosity.

In Spain, the series premiered in 1978, and throughout these decades it has been replenished countless times. At present, we can see it again in Clan TVE although with a renewed and current design.

The tiny ones

'Los diminutos' is an animated series created in 1983 in the United States, which would not arrive in our country until three years later. This is the television adaptation of the children's novels of John Peterson, which managed to have 29 chapters on television and stay for three seasons on the air.

Each episode followed a new adventure of the Meñique family, some little beings that live around us but nobody has ever seen, except for his human friend, Quique, a child who protected them and kept the secret of their existence before other people.

This animated series brings the great lessons, such as the importance of friendship and loyalty embodied in Quique, the value of teamwork, and the audacity and ingenuity to solve all problems.

Fruitis

"Los Fruitis" is a series of Spanish animation that aired on television in 1990, gaining great popularity among children for the originality of its format. And is that the protagonists of these drawings were fruits, vegetables and plants, each with its personality and its particular history.

The main protagonists of this story are Mochilo (a banana), Gazpacho (a pineapple) and Pincho (a cactus), who in the company of a girl named Kumba, decide to embark on a journey to find a new place to move their village, in danger from the activity of a volcano.

The history of these peculiar friends conveys such important values ​​as friendship and union in the face of adversity, above all the differences that apparently we can all have.

The Trotamúsicos

"The Trotamúsicos" is a series of cartoons produced in Spain and broadcast on television between 1989 and 1999. It is inspired by the story of the Grimm brothers, 'The Musicians of Bremen', and tells the story of four animals that after meeting casual way, unite their lives in a beautiful friendship that leads them to live countless adventures.

Songs, fun, laughs, mystery and an enchanted forest full of fantasy made up each and every one of the chapters of 'The Trotamúsicos', a series that extolled the value of friendship above all else. And is that when Koky, Lupo, Burlón and Tonto discover that they have in common their passion for music, they will come together to overcome any difficulty helping each other.

As a curious fact, our Espinof colleagues told us that the initial idea of ​​TVE was to create a film that told the story of Bremen's musicians, and as such it was released in 1989 with great success. Since the tape won that same year the Goya for the Best Animated Film, it was decided to adapt it and transform it into this remembered series.

Mofli, the last koala

This series was produced in Spain and has a single season consisting of 13 chapters, where the story of the little one is toldo Mofli, the last koala that inhabits the earth at the beginning of the 21st century, thus making a leap in the future with respect to the time in which it was issued.

The plot of this delicate series of animation focuses on the desire of a girl named Corina to protect the animal and ensure its safety, against those who want to capture him for the incalculable value of the last koala on earth.

The series is loaded with values ​​that refer to the importance of caring for the environment and loving our planet, as well as protecting and respecting animals, especially those that are endangered by hunting and the action of man.

Blue summer

And we say goodbye to our review with the mythical "Summer Blue", one of those series that will never go out of style, and that although year after year is replenished on the television grill, we will always start an excited smile.
